Sunday Family Catechesis
Prince of Peace Parish offers catechetical opportunities for the family on Sunday.
- Children are expected to attend Mass with their family before beginning the Sunday session. Most families choose to attend the 9 a.m. Mass. We provide a short break after Mass before starting the Sunday Family Catechesis.
- The Sunday session will run from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m.
- We use several meeting rooms as well as room dividers in the parish hall to accommodate the catechists and students.
To accommodate healthy classroom sizes, Kindergarten and First Grade will be together in one classroom as will Fourth and Fifth Grades. Both classes will be using the Ascension God’s Plan in Scripture curriculum.
Second Grade will also be using God’s Plan in Scripture curriculum along with First Reconciliation Preparation from Signs of Grace.
Third Grade will focus the entire year on Confirmation and First Holy Communion preparation usings curriculum from Signs of Grace.
Students in grades Sixth through Eighth will be in one classroom, and they will be following the Chosen: This Is Your Catholic Faith curriculum from Ascension.
Lastly, high school students will all be in one classroom and they will be going through Symbolon for Teens from the Augustine Institute.
Students with Learning Challenges are gladly welcome to be involved in our program. Please let us know how we can assist you with a child or teens who has special learning abilities.
Parents will have opportunities to take part in small groups to discuss Catholic parenting and the struggles with raising children in today’s secular society.
Fees: The registration fee will remain modest at $140 per active/registered family. To receive this rate, families must have been a registered parishioner for 6+ months, be active and participating at Holy Mass each week. For non-registered families, tuition is $250 per family.
